A platelet count test measures the number of platelets (thrombocytes) in your blood, crucial for clotting and healing. Normal levels range from 150,000 to 450,000 platelets per microliter (\(\mu L\)). Low counts (thrombocytopenia) may cause excessive bleeding, while high counts (thrombocytosis) can cause dangerous clots. The test is usually part of a Complete Blood Count (CBC).
